Battle with fear
This story happened to a 16-year-old named Suzy. She had shiny ginger hair, a slim body and a good taste in clothes. She did not have many friends. Suzy’s mom always said, “Don’t worry, you will meet someone special one day”.
Once, she came across one advertisement that caught her eye. The advertisement said that a huge company would hold a singing competition in Hollywood. At first, it seemed a good idea to participate but then the fear of singing to many people engulfed her. Tom, Suzy’s father, noticed his daughter struggling with this problem and encouraged her to participate.
I must say it was a long trip to Hollywood. Suzy picked her favourite song “Happy” for the competition. There she saw many talented people and that only intensified the fear. A boy called Eddie saw her painful expression and decided to cheer her up. The girl was surprised by his approach but she wanted to talk to someone at that moment. Eddie told her some funny jokes, they practised in singing to each other. Actually, Eddie even asked her for a walk after the competition.
“I cannot go there, I will fail!”, she said. “Suzy, I believe in you, you have everything to blow their minds”, answered Eddie.
When it was Suzy’s turn and she walked out onto the stage. She felt terrified because of the jury staring and bright lights. When the song started, her eye caught Eddie’s face. He was smiling. The supernatural strength came to her at the moment and she started singing.
Eventually, she won the battle with her fear but the jury were picky and she did not win the contest. Anyway, it did not disappoint her. When she was walking across the pavement with Eddie, she said, “A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles. That is a great lesson I have learned.”
